Total well-being means many things......there are many voices and resources to explore. We've been exploring for decades.
The Whole Health Institute, Inc., was conceived nearly three decades ago. The core focus was cardiovascular disease. Why? More members of our culture suffer from some form of cardiovascular disease than any other disease and more than many others combined. Cardiovascular disease is actually a host of disorders and events, the foundation for which is atherosclerosis also known as hardening of the arteries or clogged arteries. Cardiovascular diseases emerged for previous generations in the sixth and seventh decades of life but now are becoming prevalent in younger people. The issue is lifestyle realities -- diet, exercise, stress. We approach the
issue of health and well being and the changes that accompany it as lifestyle influenced,
where self awareness of attitude is at the core. We know that there are all sorts of things that can prevent and also reduce cardiovascular diseases and it begins with where we take the attitude.
Our book, The Whole Health Story: Living Mind & Body, authored by Dr Deb Carlin, presents the research and makes the case vivid and embraceable -- we can each enjoy health but only if we understand and care for both our mind and our body. We need to cease with punitive measures and arrive at place of positive thinking and clear understanding about intentional living.
Why that title? What does it mean?
The pace and the focus of the world, here in America, has taken away from core values that made us a great nation -- a nation of strong people who worked the land and felt tired at the end of a day and ate foods they had harvested. When you know that sort of tired, it is a challenge to retain stress, there is so much physical exertion that it dissipates. We've become a stagnant people, a culture of foodies and fatties and couch potatoes. Funny but not amusing, especially when you become the victim of your own high fat content inside and out. It is not helpful to make New Year Resolutions or renew athletic club memberships or join a weight watching group unless, yes unless, you have gotten hold of your mind and done some great exercises and trained it to work within and alongside your body. This book hits the core of what we each need to learn, understand, and live by.

We customize the format for each client
group using our 3 Step Formula.
1. Begin with Assessments &
Recommendations
In order to
determine what steps to
take once an individual or group
feels uneasy about some aspect of their existence, it is advisable to
move in a stepwise progression to determine what the current situation
entails. The next step is to offer solutions for betterment; we've got
an excellent history of being a highly reliable diagnostician -- it is
essential.
2. Process Development
& Implementation
Once there is clarity about a current situation and solutions have been
determined, it is time to work out what the steps are for reaching
desired goals. This is where the exact steps are actually taken to develop healthy
habits that will produce the desired outcomes; it is where the magic
unfolds and it's extremely rewarding. We serve as a guide alongside you
but never blocking your path or losing sight of your vision and desires.
3.
Evaluation of Program/Process
Implementation
You'll never know if you've reached the goals unless you take the time
to review where you land. The true measure of success is twofold --
reaching the desired outcomes and then sustaining them over time. Our
process ensures that you do both.
